Is Wee Nam Kee and Nam Kee the same?
Are Wee Nam Kee and Nam Kee the same? Well, let’s clear up the confusion! Back in the day, they used to be the same restaurant, but they later went their separate paths. Mr. Lee, who co-owned Nam Kee, sold his share to Mr. Wee, and the restaurant was renamed as Wee Nam Kee. However, in the 80’s, there was a legal dispute when Nam Kee at Thomson Road sued Mr. Lee for using their name, claiming they had been around first. To resolve the issue, Mr. Lee simply added his surname to the restaurant, and voilà, Lee Nam Kee came into existence.
